Lily of the Nile - Agapanthus

Now classed as a weed in New Zealand the beautiful Lily of the Nile, commonly known as Agapanthus, flowers at Christmas and New Year (January) in New Zealand, adding its spectacular colour to the native red flowered Christmas Tree - Pohutukawa.
It is spectacularly magnificant at growing in terrible conditions, holding banks of clay together and comes in white, mauve and a minature variety.
With few flowers in our gardens at this time of the year it is beautiful displayed with poinsetta, or against a corrugated iron fence.
